Josh Byrd was born in Smyrna, Georgia and grew up in Sandy Springs, Ga. He grew up going to the Sandy Springs Church of Christ which later became the North Atlanta Church of Christ. In 1994 Josh, graduated from Abilene Christian University with a BA in Youth and Family Ministry and then went on at ACU to complete his Masters degree in 1996. In December of that same year he came to Falls Church to be the Youth Minister.

While at ACU Josh met Lisa and they were married in July of 1994. They have 4 children. As a family they enjoy camping, cycling, hiking, going to the beach or the pool and sledding in the winter. Josh's personal hobbies include making things with his hands, reading and writing.

Josh has seen many transitions in the youth ministry and has worked with two other preachers since his arrival in Falls Church. He has also worked with 5 sets of summer interns. He says "Other ministers ask me if I get bored working for the same church for so long but I tell them that the group of teens and students I work with is always changing. So my youth ministry is a moving target and I am always trying to figure out the best way to minister and praying a lot for guidance. That's what makes ministry here exciting." Josh has been blessed to see several of his original students come back and work with the current teens and students.
