The Church of Christ in Falls Church was started in the spring of 1949, when some members of the Arlington Church of Christ who lived in the Falls Church area met to consider establishing a new congregation in Falls Church. The first worship service was held on September 4, 1949 and made up of 46 charter members. The new church met at 232 West Broad Street.
In April, 1954, only five years after it was established, the congregation's rapid growth made it necessary to hold two worship services each Sunday morning. In 1956, it was decided that a larger building was necessary and three acres at the current location was purchased. The new building opened for use January 11, 1959.
From 1950 until 1999, this Church has been served by ten ministers. The first church building was completed in 1951 and was located at East Broad Street and Church Place in Falls Church.

Key members of our congregation have been appointed by the members to lead us in each area necessary. You can learn more about these men on our leadership page.
The Church of Christ is the oldest non-denominational Christian fellowship in the world. For most people, “non-denominational” means “no ties to any overseeing body – an independent local congregation.” That definition suits us well, but it doesn't mean we are just one congregation. There are over 13,000 congregations, all calling themselves the Church of Christ, throughout the United States. There are an additional 15,000 congregations in 73 foreign countries. Each congregation governs itself independently from all the others and any overseeing board. We have no official “headquarters.” No governing body mandates or dictates doctrine. And yet, we are very united in our attitude toward the Bible, in the way our congregations are governed, in our concept of the Christian life, and in the way we believe people become Christians.
In the United States alone, members of the Church of Christ
*operate over 100 youth camps nationally.
*direct 26 colleges and universities (among them are the following)
* have developed prison ministries in 46 States run by over 1000 volunteers from 645 congregations.
* have built and currently administer over 100 Senior Care facilities nation-wide.
* operate four national and international relief agencies.
* support hundreds of missionaries, mission schools and hospitals throughout the world.
